PROSCIUTTO & MELON SKEWERS

So, I love a skewer at a party. A little something you can easily pick up and eat without needing a plate or utensils – an adorable piece of goodness to walk around a party with. My usual go to is the caprese salad skewers with a cherry tomato, mozz and basil, sometimes adding a little balsamic glaze. They are perfect at Christmas. But when I threw an open house this past June, I wanted something more summery and pretty and found this idea somewhere (probably pinterest) and thought I would try it out. Let me tell you, this was a surprisingly lovely combination of flavors. The salty prosciutto paired really well with the cantaloupe and all went well with the texture of the mozzarella ball. Little cute skewers like these are so easy to throw together and should be a staple at any party serving hors d’oeuvres with a little basil from my balcony garden to sprinkle on top (can you tell I am really proud of my balcony garden staying alive?!?). See below for directions – if you even need them…

Step 1: Cut a melon in half – I used cantaloupe.
Step 2: Use a melon baller and scoop out balls of cantaloupe.
Step 3: Tear the prosciutto slice in half and fold back and forth.
Step 4: Slide the prosciutto onto a skewer or toothpick, than the mozzarella ball, than the cantaloupe.
Step 5: Once you place all the skewers on a platter, sprinkle with cilantro.
