This particular recipe takes some time to do, but it’s always fail-proof. They turn out sooooo good every time. I added in some pistachios for color and eggnog to my glaze to make them a bit more festive for the season. I’ll walk you through the steps to create these irresistible treats, ensuring a warm and festive start to your holiday mornings with the best Christmas Breakfast that will quickly become tradition!

Ingredients for Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients for Perfect Christmas Cinnamon Rolls:

  • 1 cup whole milk, warm
  • 1 packet of instant yeast
  • 2 large eggs
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salts
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4-1/2 cup chopped pistachios
  • 6 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • pinch kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 cup eggnog

Christmas Cinnamon Rolls Recipe:

Make the Dough:

STEP 1: Grease a large bowl and 9×13 baking pan with cooking spray.
STEP 2: Add warmed milk and instant yeast to bowl of a stand mixer with dough hook attached and mix on low until yeast is mostly dissolved.
STEP 3: While the mixer is on low speed, add eggs, butter, all-purpose flour, salt, sugar and baking soda and mix until combined.
STEP 4: Turn up mixer to a medium-high speed and mix for 15-18 minutes or until a smooth elastic dough forms that starts to pull away from the bowl.
STEP 5: Turn the dough out into the greased bowl and turn to coat. Allow to rise for 1 1/2 – 2 hours.

Make the Filling:

STEP 6: Mix together 1 stick of butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.

Assemble Cinnamon Rolls:

STEP 7: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees while assembling your rolls.
STEP 8: Turn the risen dough out onto a floured surface and roll out the dough into an 18″ square.
STEP 9: Spread the filling over the dough. Sprinkle with chopped pistachios.
STEP 10: Roll the dough into a log and cut into 12 equal rolls.
STEP 11: Place rolls in baking pan.
STEP 12: Place a tea towel over rolls and allow to rise for 30-40 minutes.

Bake the Cinnamon Rolls:

STEP 13: Bake rolls for 20-22 minutes.

Make the Glaze:

STEP 14: Add softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, salt, vanilla to a mixing bowl a mix until incorporated.
STEP 15: Add eggnog to thin glaze.
STEP 16: Remove rolls from oven and spread immediately with glaze.
