Welcome Back to Part 2 of Eden’s Donut Themed Birthday Party! Now. Let’s talk food. I mean, we all know this is THE MOST important part of any party, right?? Maybe it’s my southern upbringing or my Enneagram twoness, but I always want people to leave my house well fed and happy!
I had 2 areas for food. We live in a 3 story town home and I set up the kids activity area on our first floor so this is also where I decided to put the “Donut Bar”.
Affiliate links are used in my post. What does that mean? If you purchase through my link I will receive a small commission and it doesn’t change the price for you at all! However, I only ever recommend products/services that I absolutely LOVE and use myself or would use myself! If you choose to support me through purchasing through my links, it allows me to continue to bring you info that you enjoy and hopefully use. So I thank you for any and all support.
DONUT BAR MENU:
Donuts and more Donuts! – I got donuts from Krispy Kreme & Ellie’s Doughnuts.
Powdered Donut Skewers – I got class Hostess Powdered Donuts and thread them onto long skewers.
Donut Holes – I displayed these in my DIY Fry Boxes – see those here.
Donut Seeds (Oreo cereal & Donettes Powdered Mini Donuts Cereal) – I displayed these in the individual paper cups.
You can see all the product links at the bottom of the post.
This was the easiest food bar I have ever done as everything was bought! I just made it special by house I displayed everything.
In our dining room, I had some other snack-y foods. The party was at 9, so I stuck with mostly breakfast foods.
MENU:
Fruit Cups – You always need a healthier option and also for kids who may be gluten or dairy free.
Bacon Skewers – You can never really go wrong with bacon at a party. AMIRIGHTTT??? Put it on a skewer and bake it in a oven. This makes it easier to prepare before party. Also makes it cure and easy for people to pick up and eat. I didn’t document this particular recipe, but I am working on a bacon series that will come out around Father’s Day!
Sausage Balls – This is a staple in the South. See below for my recipe. I used my DIY Donut Flags to stick in these to make it easier for people to pick up and eat.
Popcorn – I have popcorn at every party. Its great for kids with food allergies, everyone loves popcorn and it always fun to display. Here I found this JollyTime Confetti Cake popcorn at Kroger and thought it went well with the Donut theme!
Homemade Cheese Crackers – If you know me or have checked out any of my party posts, you KNOW that I make these for all parties, too. Cheese is kind of a must at any party, right? These are the easiest cheese crackers to make, dough can be made weeks ahead and frozen and you can cut into any shape you want. I cut these in the shape of a 3 to represent the age my baby was turning. (still processing that….) You can find the recipe for them here.
“Donut” Cupcakes – The one thing my girl requested for her Birthday Party was….cupcakes. Every time I asked her what she wanted to do at her birthday party….”Cupcakes!” I kinda love that is what she associated with birthdays….girl after my own heart..moving on. I originally thought I would just make a cup donut topper to stick in some cupcakes, but right now be super indulgent and make mini cupcake to place on top instead! See the cupcake and mini donut recipe below:

STEP 1: Allow butter to come to room temperature.Mix all ingredients together until smooth.
STEP 2: Pipe onto cooled cupcakes.
DONUT RECIPE:
STEP 1: Mix together cake mix, egg, oil and water until just incorporated.
STEP 2: Pipe mixture into a donut pan and bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes or until toothpick comes back clean.
STEP 3: Allow to cool while you make the glaze.
GLAZE RECIPE:
STEP 1: Mix together all the ingredients. until smooth. Add a few drops of whatever food coloring you want the glaze to be until it becomes the desired color.
STEP 2: Dip the tops of the donut into the glaze, letting excess drip off a bit, and place on rack to dry. Add Sprinkles or nuts as desired.
Once the Donuts are cooled, place on top of the cupcake! How cute are these??
