Donuts Are My Love Language: Birthday Party Edition, PART 1

Donut Party Theme by Dwell and Dine

Party planning may be another love language for me. I seriously love doing it. Most of the time I have to reign myself in because I WAAYY over do it. But, I truly think it’s so fun to execute all the cute ideas I see out there or come up with through the huge amount of inspiration that is out there these days.

I have planned and thrown so many parties over the years. It’s so funny how life takes you through the many stages of parties, too. It started with wedding showers and birthday parties for friends, than quickly moved to planning SO.MANY.BABY.SHOWERS! (Still do quite a bit of those) NOW, it’s turned into kids birthday parties! You can see the first party I did for my blessed first born here. And then her waaaaayyyyy more simple 2nd birthday party here. Keep in mind, I was 38 weeks pregnant at that time.

I was really busy this year trying to plan Ezra’s 1st BLOWOUT, that I was really hoping to just go to a party place and make things easy, but I couldn’t decide on anything and it was kinda expensive and could invite limited amount of friends. So, I bit the bullet and decided to just have it at our house and do it myself.

I had this “donut themed” idea rolling around in my head for awhile and Eden LOVVEESS donuts. It’s kind of a family thing to go get donuts on Saturday mornings. We happen to live across the street from 2 amazing donut shops, so it’s just inevitable. See below for the details I added to make this a special day for my big girl.

Affiliate links are used in my post. What does that mean? If you purchase through my link I will receive a small commission and it doesn’t change the price for you at all! However, I only ever recommend products/services that I absolutely LOVE and use myself or would use myself! If you choose to support me through purchasing through my links, it allows me to continue to bring you info that you enjoy and hopefully use. So I thank you for any and all support.

DECORATIONS & PRINTABLES:

Printables are much needed when planning a party. You need these things to put on cups or banners to bring home that theme. You can buy these types of things on Etsy or Design yourself. I designed all of mine myself and offering them to you for FREE! All you have to do is sign up for my email list.

Donuts: I cut these out and taped them to the fruit cups and popcorn boxes. See details below:Downloadable Donut Image for Party

12×12 signs: I love making fun signs to use throughout my parties. Usually, they are used to mark a specific area or activity. I saw all these fun puns related to donut parties that I thought would be cute to display throughout. I designed the signs, cut out a template with my cricut and traced onto boards.Donut Sign Template for Cricut machines by Dwell & Dine

Donut banners: I designed the image and uploaded into my Cricut design space and used that to cut these. I taped them to some string and hung as a banner for decorations! Donut Banner Template for Cricut Machines by Dwell and Dine

Favor: I will admit that I kind of forgot about the favor until the last minute. I quickly designed these “thanks for coming” tags and used Washi tape to tape on a bag of candy. Everyone loves candy, right?? Thankfully they were already selling Easter themed candy and the candy wrapper went perfectly with the theme!Party Favor for Donut Themed Party and Free Printable by Dwell & Dine

ACTIVITY:

I learned pretty quickly that you MUST have a fun activity at a kids party. You can see the “Make your own Guitar” craft I had at Eden’s first birthday party here.

I decided to have the kids make their own donut!

I found these wooden “O’s” online and bought enough for every kid to have one. I painted the “icing” on and put out at the tables with sprinkle stickers and markers, so they could decorate however they wanted. I also put out some donut themed coloring pages for kids to color.
