Cake in a Mug Valentine Gift

Let’s talk about teachers today. I am so thankful for the people who care for my kids every day and do all they can to teach them, to guide with them, to endure hours and hours of singing songs, playing games, wiping noses and booties. Sometime, I am afraid it is a thankless job sometimes, too. So this year when you are getting your kids Valentine’s ready (more on that next week), be sure to do something special for their teachers, too.

I’m putting together this DIY Cake in a mug to pass out to our teachers this year, but you can make it for any special someone in your life…..co-workers, best friends, or parents. It will be a yummy treat for them and leaves them with a mug they can use year round.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

cute mugs – i got THIS one from Target
clear bags – I ordered THESE from Amazon
Adhesive Paper – I order THIS from Amazon
Craft Paper – HERE is something similar to what I used
Paper Cutter

STEP 1: Design a label for your baggies and print.

STEP 2: Using a paper cutter, cut your labels out.

STEP 3: Attach to your zip top clear bags.

STEP 4: Gather all the dry ingredients from the “cake in a mug” recipe. Scroll down to the bottom of this post to see the recipe I used.

STEP 5: Whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt together in a bowl.

STEP 6: Pour these ingredient into one of the zip top clear bags.

STEP 7: Measure our the chocolate chips and pour into another zip top clear bag.

STEP 8: Cut come craft paper to fit the size of your bags. Mine are 4″ wide and I wanted it to fold over about 1.5″ so I cut my paper 3″ x 4″.

STEP 9: Using double stick tape, attach craft paper to the tops of the bags and connect the dry ingredient bag and chocolate chip bag together.

STEP 10: Place your bags in a mug and they are ready to go!
