Christmas morning is my favorite time of year! I used to love waking up to see what present we got and eating fudge for breakfast! It a whole new kind of fun now that I have children. Eden is 3 1/2 this year and her excitement about what Santa is going to bring her is kind of the cutest thing ever. She is also really specific about what she wants, so here is hope she understands that Santa may not have that same color bike.
Christmas morning it too much fun to be slaving away in the kitchen making an elaborate breakfast. I make one of these casseroles every year, because you can completely assemble it the night before and just stick it in the oven. By the time everyone is up, the house smells amazing and you have been able to relax and enjoy your cup of coffee.
The eggnog added to this French Toast Casserole really gives it the best flavor and makes it so festive for the day.

Glass Bowls / Glass Measuring Cup
Recipe:
STEP 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
STEP 2: Spread the bread slices out on a baking sheet in one layer and toast for 10 minutes. Set aside to cool for a bit.
EP 3: Butter a 9×13 baking dish with about 1/2 tablespoon butter. Use the rest of the butter to butter the toast slices if desired
STEP 4: Cut the slices into pieces and place into the prepared baking dish.
STEP 5: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggnog, milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla and salt.
STEP 6: Pour eggnog mixture over the bread slices evenly. Make sure each piece gets saturated.
STEP 7: Cover the dish and refrigerate overnight.
STEP 8: Make the Streusel topping by adding brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt to a bowl and mixing to combine.
STEP 9: Add softened butter and use a spoon to combine with sugar/flour mixture until it comes together and resembles clumpy sand. Cover and refrigerate until ready to bake the casserole.
STEP 10: When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
STEP 11: While the oven is preheating, take the casserole out of the oven for a bit, so it’s not going directly from fridge to oven.
STEP 12: Uncover the casserole and sprinkle streusel topping evenly over the top.
STEP 13: Bake casserole for 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
STEP 14: Let cool on a wire rack for about 10 minutes before serving.
