DIY: CORK LEAF TRIVETS

Thanksgiving is 9 days away! I love cooking for this holiday! I always have a hard time narrowing down the menu, because I love fall food and Thanksgiving is all about THE FOOD. I always set up a huge buffet plus put dishes on the table. Because of that I need a lot of trivets. I used to just put down all the ugly and mismatched pot holders I could find, but then came across this idea a few years ago and have been able to use them from year to year.

I needed a few more this year, so decided to document and share with you. These are not only functional but also really cute and festive. They can’t get easier and are super cute AND protect my table from getting burned or marked up. If only I could cover it with full pieces of cork to protect it from my toddler beating her fork against it constantly….

WHAT YOU NEED:

Cork Board (I got mine from Hobby Lobby or you can purchase them here)
Utility knife or Exacto knife
Leaf Print-outs
Cutting Mat
Tape or drafting dots

STEP 1: Print out some leaf graphics. Or anything your heart could image, really. Leaves go really well with the fall/Thanksgiving theme. I just googled “leaf printables” and found a ton of free images you can print.

STEP 2: Tape the printed sheets to your cork board. I use drafting dots…so many leftover from college drafting days…

STEP 3: Use a utility knife or Exacto knife and trace around the shape of your print out.

STEP 4: Punch out of the cork.

Really cute right? Do you overdo it like I do? What’s on your favorite Thanksgiving menu??
