Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Beat together butter and sugar.

Add eggs, 1 at a time, and mix thoroughly.

Whisk together cake flour, baking powder and cocoa powder.Alternate adding flour mixture and buttermilk to butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Mix until just combined.

Mix in vanilla.

Spoon batter into muffin cups and bake for 20-22 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Cool in pans for about 5 minutes.

Place on a cooling rack until completely cooled.
