If you follow my blog, you may know that I am really into the speckled look this year. It started with speckled eggs and then I made splattered pumpkins. This season, I decided to try it out on some ornaments. They turned out just as cute as the other items.
If you are looking for the easiest DIY this year, see below. It’s likely your kids are out of school and it’s too cold to play outside. This is the perfect thing to try with them this weekend if you are stuck in the house. Just remember to do it in an area outfitted with some newspaper or something to protect your table of floors. It can get a bit messy.

Supplies:
White Ornaments
Craft Paint – I used Black to go with my tree, but you could use red, green or any color you wish
Paintbrush
Instructions:
STEP 1: Lay your ornaments out on a large sheet of newspaper, contact paper or the like.
STEP 2: Mix a tiny bit of water with paint (color of your choice). You don’t want it too thick or it may cause large spots.
STEP 3: Hold the paintbrush over the ornaments and use you thumb to hold back bristles. Release the bristles to cause a splattered effect. Do this is as heavy or light as you wish.
STEP 4: Allow to dry. Hang on tree.
Seriously, that is it. These would be so pretty on a tree or in a decorative bowl for a modern twist on the holiday season.
