Last week, I posted the sweet Classic Beignet, but today I have a totally different kind of beignet. A savory beignet, filled with fresh shrimp is another way to enjoy this New Orleans Classic. Some people may call this a fritter, but either way, it is delicious and flavorful and super easy to make.
Tomorrow is Fat Tuesday, so get out those deep fryers and indulge.

RECIPE:
STEP 1: In a large bowl. stir together the egg, shrimp, butter, salt, pepper and cayenne.
STEP 2: Add the flour and stir until blended.
STEP 3: Fill a large pot with oil about 2″ high and heat to 375 degrees.
STEP 4: Drop about a tablespoon or so of batter into the oil and fry until golden brown. It only takes a few minutes.
STEP 5: Drain shrimp on some paper towels.
Serve immediately!
Shrimp Beignets
Ingredients
- 1 x-large egg
- 1 pound uncooked shrimp chopped
- 1/2 tablespoon butter melted
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/3 cup bread flour
- vegetable oil
Instructions
