Growing up 3 hours from my beloved city of New Orleans, we KNEW about Mardi Gras and at King Cake EVERY year?! What is better than day made for indulgence. AND, what better way to indulge than to take two New Orleans classics and combine them into one delicious treat. King Cake Beignets take my favorite New Orleans treat and adds a Mardi Gras twist that you can make at home in your own kitchen.

Gather Your Ingredients to Make King Cake Beignets:
- Dry Yeast
- Evaporated Milk
- sugar
- egg
- all-purpose flour
- vegetable oil
- powdered sugar
- lemon juice
- green sanding sugar
- purple sanding sugar
- gold sanding sugar

Make and Fry Your Beignets:
STEP 1: Make beignets by following this recipe for Classic Beignets. They are light and fluffy and perfect pillows of fried dough. Instead of sprinkling powdered sugar on top of beignets, make king cake icing for dipping the beignets.
Make Your Icing:
STEP 2: Make the icing by mixing together powdered sugar, lemon juice and water together in a bowl until smooth.
STEP 3: When beignets have cooled enough to handle, dip one side into the powdered sugar glaze.
STEP 4: Place on a plate and immediately sprinkle with purple, green and gold sanding sugar.

King Cake Beignets
Ingredients
- Classic Beignet Recipe
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/3 cup green sanding sugr
- 1/3 cup purple sanding sugar
- 1/3 cup gold sanding sugar
Instructions
- Make Classic Beignets.
- Mix together powdered sugar, lemon juice and water until smooth.
- Once Beignets are cool enough to handle, dip one side of beignet into the glaze.
- Sprinkle with green, purple and gold sanding sugars.
