There is something about this time of year that makes me want to be super domestic and do things like make my own jams. It’s something about cooler temps and the coziness of the season and the desire to make homemade goodies for all my friends and neighbors. Maybe it’s the Hallmark Movie influence in my life. When I think about the next several weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas and start planning menus for all the lunches, dinners and parties that come with the holidays, I start with inspiration from my favorite flavors of the season. I love figs and that are such a great winter fruit to incorporate into so many dishes. I use them on things like appetizers (see Fig & Pistachio Brie), a condiment for a fancy slider (see Fig & Brie Turkey Sliders). Last year I made a Brussels Sprouts Dish incorporating fig Jam for Thanksgiving. That is now my favorite recipe for a great Thanksgiving side. Since it incorporates fig jam, I thought I would try to make my own to incorporate into the dish this year. Not to mention, this would be a great gift to drop off at your neighbors house or throw in a gift basket with some biscuit mix. There are so many great uses and making this easier than you may think!
