It’s Halloween season, yall! It’s also the beginning of the most festive 3 months of the year. Starting this season off with a spooky, yet sweet and festive Halloween treat. We are taking a traditional hand pie but with an eerie twist by cutting them into fun Halloween shapes that everyone in the family can join in on the fun. I also added a twist to the classic chocolate pie flavor by using a chili chocolate to spice things up a bit for this ghoulish holiday. Ingredients For Easy Spicy Chocolate Halloween Hand Pies:
- Pre-make Pie Dough (or make your own)
- Dark Chili Chocolate (I used Moser Roth)
- Eggs
- Milk
- Sugar
- Butter
- Vanilla
- Flour
- Salt
- Halloween Shaped Cookie Cutters (I used a pumpkin and ghost shape)
Supplies for Halloween Hand Pies:
Instructions for Easy Spicy Chocolate Halloween Hand Pies:
STEP 1: Add sugar, cornstarch and salt to saucepan and whisk together.
STEP 2:Add eggs and milk and whisk to combine.
STEP 3: Stir mixture over medium heat until it barely comes to a boil and becomes thicker, 6-8 minutes.
STEP 4: Once it becomes thick like pudding, remove from heat.
STEP 5: Add the spicy chocolate, vanilla and butter and stir until combined and smooth. Allow to cool a bit.
STEP 6: Roll out your pie dough on a lightly floured surface.
STEP 7: Using your cookie cutters, cut your pie dough into pumpkin or ghost shapes.
STEP 8: Place on a parchment lined cookie sheet.
STEP 9: Roll out you second sheet of dough and cut the same shapes. Use a knife to to cute jack-o-lantern faces and a pastry tip to add eyes for ghosts.
STEP 10: Add a tablespoon or so of the chocolate pudding mixture to each pie shape on the cookie sheet. Repeat until each shape has pudding.
STEP 11: Add the other cut shapes on top of each shape on the cookie sheet.
STEP 12: Press around the edges with a fork to seal each pie.
STEP 13: Brush top of each pie with an egg wash.
STEP 14: Bake at 450 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until it starts to brown around the edges.

- Use a small paring knife to cut out a jack o’ lantern face of your pumpkin shaped pie.
- I used the tip of a small piping tip to make the eyes in the ghost shapes.
- You can use any Halloween themes shaped like bats, black cats, or witch hat.
- If you can’t find dark chili chocolate, you can use regular chocolate and add in 1/4 – 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne or chili powder.

Mini Halloween Hand Pies Filled with Spicy Chocolate Pie Filling
Ingredients
