It’s Holy Week. Easter is happening whether we get to celebrate outside our homes or not. Speaking of which, since we are all stuck in our homes, why not get our DIY skills on and make some fun Easter decorations!
I don’t know if you heard, but Tie-Dyed is back and super hot right now! I love trying all the trends on home decoration. I’ve marbled and speckled eggs over the past few years, so I knew I had to try the latest craze this year and tie-dye some eggs. They turned out really cute and this could definitely be a fun way to fill some time this week.
This is a great DIY to do with older kids (I wouldn’t recommend doing this with toddlers as they would probably have food coloring stains all over them for days, but an older child could certainly help out as this weeks art project!)

Food Coloring / Craft Eggs (Similar) / Rubber Bands / Not Pictured: Water Bottle
Supplies:
White eggs – I picked up some wood eggs in the dollar section. You could curbside pick up these from Joann’s and order these from Amazon. They have these plastic ones at Target. Or you can always hard boil some real eggs.
Food coloring
Paper Towels
Rubber bands – I stole some of Eden’s hair polybands
Spray bottle
Instructions:
STEP 1: Wrap you egg with the paper towel and secure with a rubber band.
STEP 2: Squirt drops of food coloring on the paper towel covered egg. I used 2 different colors. You can use more if you want a more colorful Tie-Dye. I did one with pink & yellow and one with blue and green. Start with one color by squirting randomly and then come in with the 2nd color and fill in the white spots.
STEP 3: Spray the paper towel with water to really make sure the colors mix together well. Squeeze the egg to make sure you really mix the colors well.
Note: I would wear gloves if you have them. It totally not necessary, but my hand was multi colored for a day. Also the color will look super saturated when on the egg. They will not be this dark for the finished product. The food coloring I was using were pastel colors.
STEP 4: Place the eggs in a glass dish or vessel that will wash or you don’t mind getting stained. Allow to dry. I let mine sit overnight. They probably will dry sooner, but I wanted to make sure they sat a long time and coloring had time to really adhere to the egg. You can put a fan on it or dry it with a hair dryer if you want to do it quicker.
STEP 5: Remove the paper towel and enjoy you new eggs!
