I love a good tablescape. Making my table pretty for the holidays is almost as fun as cooking for them. I bought some beautiful salad plates from Crate & Barrell a couple of years ago. I wanted to add to the collection, but of course, they no longer have them. I decided I could make similar ones myself. These easy hand-painted salad, appetizer or dessert plates can be done in no time and they will impress your guests. You could really do this for any season or holiday.
See below for step x step instructions (with pictures).

Materials:
Glass plates – You could make dinner plates if you wanted to, but I wanted to add to my white dinner plates
Oil-Based Paint Pen or Marker
Template 1 & Template 2 – download mine for free! All you have to do is sign up for my email list.
Tape or drafting dots
Directions:
STEP 1: Print the free template. You will notice it is mirrored. This is important because you will be painting the back of the plate, so by taping the template to the front, you want to make sure it comes through in the right direction. Cut the circles out.
STEP 2: Tape the circles on the front of each plate with the words down, so that you can see the writing when you turn the plate around. This way you paint the words on the bottom of the plate so no food every touches the painted words.
STEP 3: Using your paint pen, trace the letters on the back of the plate. You will be writing in reverse, but it’s really easy to trace.
STEP 4: Remove the template and place the plate in a cool oven. Turn the oven to 350 degrees and heat the plate for 20 minutes. This will help ensure the paint gets “baked” into the plate and shouldn’t wash off when washing the plate.
Set your table and enjoy these beautiful plates.
