Marble is one of those classic patterns I will always love. I mean there is a reason so many of you kitchen inspiration photos on Pinterest include those beautiful countertops (despite their complete impracticality of it…newsflash….its stains). However, it is so beautiful and anytime something is marbled, I am immediately drawn to it. I am trying to take on more DIY project in 2021 because something 2020 taught me was my need to create. It’s just a better way to spend my time than scrolling the gram or watching the news, amiright?!?
I decided to take the technique I used to marble Easter Eggs and Christmas Ornament and make some beautiful coffee mugs. I probably use 3 coffee mugs a day, so this is a very practical item to add to my house. I am big believer in the DIY we take on are things we can actually use in our homes or give away as gifts. Which means, i want them to look as good as they would coming from a store. The technique did just that. These mugs turned out so beautiful you would think they came from a fancy tableware store. And they are so cheap to make!
So whether you are enjoying your morning cup of joe or a delish Hot Chocolate, you will fill so chic drinking out of these DIY coffee mugs. Also perfect for trying out one of those trendy Hot Cocoa Bombs!

Supplies:
White Ceramic Mugs
Nail Polish
Tupperware or Bowl
Toothpicks
Dishwasher Safe Modge Podge
Paintbrush
Instructions:
STEP 1: Fill a bowl or tupperware with hot water.
STEP 2: Add a few drops of nail polish to the water and swirl with a toothpick quickly. I found I didn’t need to always stir it up. I kind of naturally spread as soon as it hit the water.
STEP 3: Add the mug to the water and the nail polish will adhere to the cup. Swirl it around to cover all sides. I didn’t submerge the whole cup as I didn’t want the nail polish to be at the top where I would be drinking.
STEP 4: Allow it to dry on some paper towels.
STEP 5: Apply modge podge according to package directions, if desired. This step is not necessary, but will help if you want to put these mugs in the dishwasher.
How pretty are these?!? They literally took my 7 minutes to complete. I love how they are so easy to do and how every one of them look different. It would also be fun to do with kids and kind of a science experiment.
