So if you read my “about me” section, you will see that I was born and raised in the Deep South. Southern food is my heart and soul. It is what I grew up eating. It’s what I crave when I want comfort food. It’s what made me love food. It’s what life was revolved around. Food is a huge part of what being Southern is all about. With all that said, I hope to bring recipes from time to time that represent some of my childhood favorite. The “staples”, if you will, of the deep south.
First up: Banana Pudding. Y’all I love it. It so nostalgic. And this is a really easy way to make it without having to make completely from scratch, but still tastes very much like the real thing. This is how my mom always did it and how I will continue to do it because it is just THAT GOOD!
Step 1: Whip whipping cream and store in the fridge.Step 2: Mix condensed milk and water until smooth.Step 3: Add pudding mix and beat for 2 minutes.
Step 4: Let rest in fridge for 5 minutes
Step 5: Take the pudding and whipped cream out of fridge and fold whipped cream into the pudding mixture.Step 6: Cut up the bananas.Step 7: Layer pudding, bananas, and vanilla wafers in a bowl. End with the pudding.
See…it doesnt get much easier and is seriously delicious. Print the recipe below:
